Spring Cleaning

Spring is here so let's make a room for it in our houses, too. Clean up the mess, get rid of the stains and odors, reorganize, create a different mood.

Usually it is very efficient to make a to-do list and follow it, but for the lazy ones I will provide several tips and steps to follow. Do not miss any of those, they are the most important.

#1 Cleaning is a multilayer process so begin from the top floor and work down to the ground floor; this applies to all rooms. Usually a lot of dust is gathered on the top shelves and lighting features that fall from the ceiling. Begin with dusting up the ceiling and move from layer to layer without missing any objects, you don't want the dust that you left on the chandelier spread to the clean shelves. End with the floor by cleaning all carpets and rugs and the floor itself.

#2 Move all stationary objects. Usually a lot of dust stays under the stationary objects so if you want to clean efficiently move those. Move all picture frames, and accessories from the shelves. Remember to dust up the books one by one- believe me a lot of dust is gathered there. When you work in the kitchen move all appliances and when you work on the floor move chairs, sofas, etc.

#3 Clean up the kitchen appliances. You can never say your house is clean if your oven is messy and greasy. Clean it very well as well as all other appliances especially the ones from stainless steel. Once you appliances shine bright you will feel like you are looking at a kitchen from a magazine.

#4 Clean up the painted walls. To clean the painted walls take a clean cloth or sponge and water. Nowadays most people use paints that can easily be cleaned with water but if this doesn't work put a just a little dishwasher liquid into the water. Don't make it bubble bath!

#5 Pay attention to the tiles. You can find a lot of dust in between the separate tiles; this applies both for the kitchen and the bathroom. You will find it more time consuming for the kitchen since this is the place where you cook and usually a lot of things fall on the ground.

#6 De-clutter. Surely there is a lot of stuff in your house that you do not need or you haven't use for a long time. Rule of thumb is - if you haven't used it since before last spring, then throw it away.  Pay attention to the closet. Clean up the winter clothes that you haven't worn this winter, because you will probably won't use them in the next. Put the clothes that match up perfectly together so that it can be easier for you tho decide in the morning. For those that are really into reorganizing, you can organize according to color; this will give your wardrobe a new bright and fancy look.

#7 Clean up the windows. You don't want the dust to stop you from seeing the beautiful blossoming trees outside.

#8 Buy some flowers and spread them across the house. Put them in beautiful glass vases and enjoy your clean house!

  1. Since, I believe myself to be one of the "lazy" people you are talking about, these tips turn out to be very helpful for me. I like the idea that there is somethink like an "algorithm" for the cleaning, stating that one must begin the process from top and then finish with the floor. I think that the small details that you provide to the whole picture, make the reader visualize and believe that he can start cleaning at the exact moment.
